        Our CE missionary project 2008/09

Our CE missionary project this term is a special one, because for the first time ever we are doing a joint one!

Our first project is to do with a company in Newtownards called ‘THE LINK’ their motto is: “An active Christian presence in the community.”

About ‘The Link’

The Link Family and Community Centre was created in 1997 to make a Christian response in the community for people in need and to show teenagers their need for Christ so that they don’t get caught up in all the gangs and mobs that are about today.

In just over 10 years ‘The Link’ has become a registered charity and an independent community development organisation with its own management committee and volunteers involving people from around 20 churches. They help people with employment problems and those who are homeless, alcoholics and senior citizens.

Now that ‘The Link’ has grown, the work has moved to larger premises to house activities taking place.  They need to raise an awful lot of money.

Our second project is something I’m quite sure that everyone is aware of – the work in Nigeria!
CE wants to raise enough money to help the Nigerian orphans and also to help complete the work that the four men, Tom McFadden, Terry Hogg, Neil Anderson and Jim Creighton, started.

We have decided to sponsor Monday to help him with things he needs and to pay for his schooling – things that we often take for granted here in Carrickfergus. There are lots of people here in Northern Ireland and West Africa who need to know that Jesus is the answer.
